Fall 2019 fellows visited Brussels

At the beginning of October, EUCAM research fellows Muslimbek Buriev, Bermet Zhumakadyr kyzy and Zhypariza Zhumagazieva and the CESS fellow Taras Yemchura from Ukraine, visited Brussels to have meetings with representatives of EU institutions and experts dealing with Central Asia.

The fellows especially enjoyed learning about the work of the European Endowment for Democracy, an independent grant-making organisation that is also active in Central Asia. They also attended a EU-China Relations and Connectivity conference at the Egmont Palace where one of the fellows brought up the issue of repression of ethnic minorities in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region during the Q&A session.
